Quick Replies for chat

Respond to common questions faster and easier with Quick Replies, a feature designed to streamline your customer chats.


How it works

Quick Replies allow you to create and save up to five custom message templates. Instead of typing out the same responses repeatedly, you can simply select a pre-written message and send it instantly through chat. 

This feature is exclusively available to our Storefronts Elite customers and Verified Auto Dealers. 


Feature benefits

Quick Replies are designed to help you:

  • Save Time: Eliminate repetitive typing and respond to common buyer questions in seconds.
  • Increase Engagement: Keep potential customers interested and engaged by reducing your response times.
  • Maintain Consistency: Ensure your replies are consistent and align with your brand's voice and messaging.

Create Quick Replies 

You can create up to five custom Quick Reply templates to save time when responding to potential customers.

  1. Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
  2. Go to inbox_icon.svg Inbox, then tap a chat thread to open it.
  3. On the Message page, tap storefronts_icon.svg Storefronts.
  4. From the pop-up panel, tap Quick Replies > Create.
  5. Enter a title for your reply template and type your custom message.
  6. Tap Save.

Tip: Consider your most frequently asked questions and write concise, helpful responses for each.


Use Quick Replies

Once you've created Quick Replies, you can use them to respond to common questions in your chats.

  1. Go to inbox_icon.svg Inbox, then tap a chat thread to open it.
  2. On the Message page, tap the title of the Quick Reply you want to use. Your reply will automatically populate in the message field.
  3. Tap Send to drop the reply into your chat thread.

Edit Quick Replies

You can easily modify your existing Quick Reply templates.

  1. Go to inbox_icon.svg Inbox, then tap a chat thread to open it.
  2. On the Message page, tap storefronts_icon.svg Storefronts.
  3. From the pop-up panel, tap Quick Replies.
  4. On the Quick Replies page, tap the 3_dots.svg three dots next to the template you want to edit.
  5. From the pop-up panel, tap Edit.
  6. Edit your reply template, then tap Save.

Tip: You can also edit your Quick Replies by going to Account > Business Tools > Quick Replies.


Delete Quick Replies

If you no longer need a Quick Reply, you can delete it.

  1. Go to inbox_icon.svg Inbox, then tap a chat thread to open it.
  2. On the Message page, tap storefronts_icon.svg Storefronts.
  3. From the pop-up panel, tap Quick Replies.
  4. On the Quick Replies page, tap the3_dots.svgthree dots next to the template you want to delete.
  5. From the pop-up panel, tap Delete.
  6. Tap Delete again to confirm. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
