Promote your listings

Want to get more eyes on your inventory? Try promoting your listings so they stand out in the feed. With more buyers looking at your listings, you’ll have more opportunities to generate leads and sales.

Why promote your listings

When you want to highlight a listing in the feed, you can promote it. A promoted listing (also known as a promoted placement) gets bumped up near the top of the feed and displays a special Promoted icon to make it stand out. Because the listing is more visible, it’s likely to grab the attention of interested buyers.

Promotions work best when used strategically. Here are a few things to consider when deciding which listings to promote:

  • Prioritize your most in-demand inventory. Promoting items that buyers are actively searching for gives you the best chance of driving inquiries.
  • Promote newer listings. Fresh listings promoted early get in front of buyers before they get buried by newer posts.
  • Promote higher-value items. For items where the sale value justifies the investment, a promotion can make a meaningful difference in visibility.
  • Rotate promotions on slow-moving inventory. If an item hasn’t been getting attention, a promotion gives it a second chance in front of buyers.

How promoting works

Promoted listings are resurfaced within the top quarter of local search results, making your inventory more visible to nearby buyers. Your plan includes a set number of promotions that can be used to showcase your inventory. Here’s how it works:

  • Check your total promotions. Review your contract or check the Promotions tab in the Business Portal to confirm how many promotions are included in your plan.
  • Promotions run automatically. Based on the default filter selected when you signed up — such as Oldest Inventory or Least Expensive Inventory — the system will automatically apply promotions to your inventory and rotate them when new listings are added that meet your default criteria. If no new eligible listings are added, your current promotions will remain unchanged.
  • Manually promote specific listings. If you prefer to choose which listings get promoted, select Remove Promotion on an existing listing and Promote on the replacement.
  • Promotions reassign automatically. When you sell or archive a listing, the promotion is automatically reassigned to the next applicable listing based on your default promotion setting.
